Willoughby, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly set their sights on Michigan State's Tom Izzo as a prime candidate for their head coaching vacancy.

The News-Herald of Northern Ohio reported Monday that the Cavs have already made an offer to Izzo, who won a national championship with Michigan State in 2000 and has taken the Spartans to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament six times in his 15 seasons.

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert is a graduate of Michigan State.

Izzo guided the Spartans to a record of 28-9 last season, ending with a loss to Butler in the Final Four.

The Cavaliers need a replacement for Mike Brown, who was fired last month after five seasons with the club.
